PILATES CHAIR
The Pilates Chair is a compact, box shaped apparatus invented by Joseph Pilates. This piece of equipment has a padded seat and a spring-loaded pedal that provides adjustable resistance. Participants sit, stand, lie, or kneel on the equipment to build core stability, full-body strength, and balance. The Chair relies completely on your own stability and balance which shows the imbalances we each have in our bodies. This only adds to the challenge of using this piece of equipment. Participants use constant stabilization to control the pedal and forces deep activation of your abdominal wall, obliques and lower back muscles. Functional movement patterns like pushing, lifting, stepping and climbing are common on this piece of equipment. The spring tension can be easily modified to be suitable for absolute beginners and advanced practitioners.
At Peaceful pilates Studio we offer Chair Classes and one-on-one private sessions on the Chair.
